Mussoorie. At approximately 2,000 metres above sea level, this hill station is a popular tourist retreat for those looking to take a break in the hills. Situated in the mighty Himalayas, this hill station offers breathtaking views of the Doon Valley and prominent Himalayan peaks including Nanda Devi, Bandar-poonch, Badrinath and Kedarnath, among others. Like most hill stations, Mussoorie has many landmarks. The most frequented and centre of the town is the Mall, divided largely in to Library and Picture Palace sides. Besides the bazaar, this sleepy hill town is an education hub, being home to several well-known schools in the country. Among these, Woodstock School, Wynberg-Allen, St. Georges College and Oak Grove. Many government institutions are also housed in Mussoorie including the Archeological Survey of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration and the Zoological Survey of India.
